Tamara Hirzel

Printmaker

“Nature is my inspiration. Animals, plants and the larger landscape connect me to the rhythms that have measured out life for generations. By distilling details and using line, color and texture, I create fine art prints that reflect the natural world around me.

I am a printmaker working in the relief methods of woodblock and linocut. Carving into the plate, I feel the shape of the image through my tools. The dialogue between ink, printing plate and paper fascinates me and leads to new ideas.

My hand pulled prints are created with high quality inks on archival papers and printed on an etching press. I often paint them with watercolor. From carving to press, my prints are each an original piece of art.”
