“As an artist, my creative process is continually influenced by Far East Asian cultures, as well as, the poignant history of the Pink Triangle. I refer to my art practice as ‘awakening clay.’ Prior to the final glaze firing, I carefully apply a handcrafted custom pattern to the surface of each piece. I am intrigued by how the nature of pattern wakes up the form of the piece. Attempting to transform triangular shapes on clay into something beautiful is my joy.”

Tim Wedel lives and works in Kalamazoo.  He studied architecture at the University of Michigan, and ceramics at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (K.I.A.).
